I got the call from Student Health, "You have Rheumatoid Arthritis. You are still very young. No one could predict its path for the future. If you are lucky, it could go into remission. Reality is, you could be bound to a bed for the rest of your life. There is no cure." Dr. IForgotYourNameBecauseYouOfferedNoHope.
John Hopkins Arthritis Center states that within 10 years of the onset of Rheumatoid Arthritis disease, 60% are disabled, unable to work. The average onset is 40-50 years of age.

Paying out of pocket for everything, I was put on four drugs: Prednisone, Mobic, Plaquenil, and Lodotra. My Rheumatologist wanted to add a fifth drug, Methotrexate, which causes severe liver damage and in taking it, I could never have a sip drink alcohol ever again. Well, he was generous, he'd let me have one glass of wine a month. My medical bills were nearly $10,000 this year and I could not get health insurance (this was before Obamacare). The next route would be to try Biologicals which would add another $36,000 to my sky rocketing medical bills.
I searched everywhere for natural cures - fish oil, saunas, gluten free diet - but the RA was still there. Over 50% of those with RA suffer from depression and I was heading in that direction. I was unable to get out of bed because of the fatigue, hold a job, and socialize at night like I used to, life was miserable. My sister recommended hot yoga. The heat and stretching would be good on my joints so I went with her.
My RA story is educational and by no means do I want to play victim looking for sympathy. I just want you to understand where I am coming from. Trying just about every concoction possible with no success, I felt my once healthy, good life would soon be over. I was 30.
On my way into hot yoga, a lady promoting some water ionizer device handed me a glass a water. She called it "miracle water" and I called her "crazy". She explained because it was ionized, the water molecules were restructured and smaller, I would absorb over 80% of it vs. the tap water which is around 10 to 15% absorption rate. She filled up my water bottle and I headed into hot yoga. What was I drinking? It was delicious and I could feel it cooling down my joints, like a fire extinguisher putting out the heat on my inflamed joins. When yoga commenced, I found the water lady who was finishing a water demonstration and asked what it was. She explained it is alkaline and oxidized water known to prevent diseases. There was a room full of happy, vibrant people with testimonials of no longer having knee pain, Lupus, MS, RA, diabetes, just about every disease in the book, she being one of them. What, is this a friggin' religion? She offered to let me drink it for the next 30 days for free to see if it would help my RA. This was weird, even my sister thought so. I was desperate. I was in pain.
The next morning after drinking the water at hot yoga, I woke up early and with much energy...and pain free. Was the alkaline water really working? I challenged this water - I stopped all RA medication during the 30 day test. Every week, I drove to the water lady's home to fill up a 5 gallon container. I quit drinking acidic soda and only drank the ionized alkaline 9.5pH water.
Weird as this was, the water lady asked if she could see my fingernails. I showed her 9 of the 10 nails, hiding my thumb. My thumbnail's severe ridges have always been a huge embarrassment for me. So much, that I saw three doctors over it. One doctor wanted to remove the entire nail just to see if it would grow back normal. Another doctor theorized I had some cyst growing under my nail bed. The third doctor insisted I damaged my thumb, such as hit it with a hammer, and must have forgot doing it. Nail salon visits had their own theory when I went; I hear (in a thick Vietnamese accent) "She have infection, infection, right here.""Ooooh, she does!" While I humored them, I asked they try to sand it down and put polish over it. Hide it, make it go away. Nails are a sign over your overall health. However, I told the water lady my one thumbnail doesn't count because it's just how it is and will always be.
I continued drinking water and I started to get healthy, my skin was soft and radiant, my joints had no pain. What was the strangest thing was my thumbnail's ridges weren't growing anymore. It was growing out smooth. I took a picture in disbelief and am thankful I did, as the ridged thumbnail is now history, it's never coming back. I like to call it my "testimo-nail". Visually, you can see the healing power of alkaline ionized water. What else is it fixing inside my body? I feel good, young, energetic. This water gave me my life back.

We spend more time concerned with the pH level of our fish tanks and hot tubs, but nothing on the pH level of our own body. We are made up of 70% water and people drink soda pop all day long. If I was religious, ionized alkaline water would be my religion and I, its prophet. I wish someone introduced it to me 15 years ago. If you Google natural cures for RA, ionized alkaline water does not come up. Big Pharmas wouldn't be so healthy if you were.
Ionizers are typically sold through a direct selling channel. I found out my Chiropractor has a machine, but he does not speak of it because he does not want his patients to think he is selling them something. Understandable, but also unfortunate. Unless you have a friend who has a machine, you do not know that this miracle water even exists. Some health stores and coffee shops are now starting to sell the water itself. My friend opened up shop in Southern California Drinking fresh ionized alkaline water and drinking it fresh is very important. The shelf life of the ionization is less than 7 days and should be stored in the dark. One should start with a pH of 8.0 and over a month increase it up to 9.5pH. The best results I have found have been at 9.5pH - but if you go to that level too rapidly, your body can detox and you may get sick.
What about alkaline water that is not ionized? Without the ionization or electrolysis process - the water will lack the hydration part of the water. As of 2014, new research is shows us that hydrogen molecules are created during the electrolysis and gives us the benefits. Research hint: When Googling Kangen, add your ailment along with the word Kangen (such as "kangen shingles" or "kangen cancer"). It's easier to get to the truth, bypassing the pseudo-blogs out there. Kangen was the first ionzer to market in the USA, so there is many more testimonials. Kangen was considered the best machine five years ago, and it is a good machine, but other manufacturers have improved on their technology and pre-filtration, such as Tyent and Alkaviva. I have tried all three brands of ionizers and they all have worked for me: Kangen SD501, Tyent MMP-11 and Alkaviva's Athena.
I have been somewhat quiet about the water all these years, but when my friend was cured of shingles, realized I needed to speak out. She would still be sick right now. Big Pharma brings in $40 billion for anti-rheumatics, second to Oncology (cancer) which nets $70 billion EVERY YEAR. You may have seen Phil Mickelson's commercials promoting the drug Amgen's Enbrel for his Psoriatic Arthritis (an injectible biological drug that sold $4 billion in 2013). This drug takes a lethal toll on your body, increasing your chances for cancer and other autoimmune diseases. Enbrel's profits have increased by 7% in 2013 - simply because they raised the price to the end user (which costs about $1500 a month.)
Anyhow... Oh, did I mention - my Doctor has given me a clean bill of health? "You don't even need to see your Rheumatologist anymore."

You can stop drinking soda now as a start. Tap water is one of the most neutral water out there. Most bottled water is actually very acidic (Dasani, Smart Water), to my own surprise.
